Back to Texas Realitywood

Everytime I return from one of the trips from LA or New York, especially with Ash, we always say how exhausted we are. We work hard and we PLAY hard too!

After a wild and wacky Halloween in LA - (pix to be posted soon) - I took off to La Jolla to visit some friends. They have a beautiful house on a hill with a view of the ocean - very relaxing and pretty....a great place to recuperate post-partying. I also met with Karl to fine tune the LAILA edit in Hermosa Beach, which is a more hippy, artsy side of LA. Of course the weather is always amazing there -- sunny and perfectly between cool and hot.

We had a session on Thursday night with the composer, Chris Gubisch, - and I just love sitting there while they create music on the fly that works so well with the film. Chris is also the composer for 39 Pounds of Love, and he's incredible. We also finalized some tunes with our music supervisor, Joan, who also found some very inexpensive gems to replace some of the popular temp songs there now.

Lastly, we spent the last two days at AFM - American Film Market - what a wild, wild place. . It's great to network, but it's more for B-movies or Horror film sales, not indie films or Hollywood films. Totally not my cup of tea. So much business and testosterone thrown around in there......but this is why I left the corporate world - it just bored me to tears. HOWEVER, not to knock any of it, this is a side of the business that has to get done - where deals are made (getting money for future films and selling completed films). I do have an MBA, so I understand it all. I just prefer to be a part of it once the money is in place - and make the films.

I did meet some very interesting people -- hopefully ones that I will make movies with in the near future. That's what it's all about ;-)
