La vie en rose
Bonjour tout le monde.
I have been in Paris for a few days now. The first day I arrived we had meetings with the crew. I was exhausted but very excited to be in Paris producing a short film. Everyone here has been working so hard getting things ready. We are shooting on location at a bar and a rooftop. I had to deliver insurance papers to them the day before yesterday -- very interesting. The rooftop is not so safe, so we've neen scrambling to find another one --- the Fat Girls production totally loosened me up on this kind of stuff, I don't panic so much. I know it will all work out and be great. The editor of Fat Girls, Karl (see previous posts) has agreed to edit, so I am excited to work with him again.
Other than that, I have been spending time with my longtime French friend, Virginie and her partner, Stephanie. Last night they took me on a boat ride on the Seine from the Eiffel Tower. Weather is very nice here, not hot or cold....it was very beautiful. We went to eat at a French restaurant...it was so funny. These two waiters overheard me say, "Help me eat this" to my friend when I got my huge creme brulee desert.....they said, "Ok, we'll help", and dove into my dessert with their spoons and ate some! I just about fell over laughing.
Today and tomorrow are relatively free days, so I will go to my favorite place in Paris today - Sacre-Couer and Montmartre. I climb the chappell everytime I come here, it's a very peaceful place to be.
I love this city, and despite what everyone says about the French - everywhere I go, if I have a map, someone always offers me their assistance without me even asking. I always make an effort to try to speak French with them, and I think that gains their respect right off the bat....but then again, a deaf girl trying to speak French, they quickly bust out the English after hearing my horrible accent.
Au revoir. A beintot.
